Legendary Resilience of Palestinian Women
Legendary Resilience of Palestinian Women
The Palestinian woman, from Gaza to Jerusalem, carries in her features
a resilience unlike any other, an extraordinary strength, and a wisdom that
surpasses all. She does not belong only to a piece of land, but to a cause
deeper than homeland and soil, a cause of creed and faith.
It is no surprise that her
resilience is legendary. Not only in Gaza but also
in Jerusalem, every one of them resists with her silence and courage. This
resilience springs from her deep awareness of her role. She was not created to be just a number among
millions, but a conscious woman raised within her nurturing family to pass on
this awareness in establishing her own family upon the same path.
She is the thorn lodged in the
throat of the occupation, a thorn difficult to uproot, for the enemy’s schemes
cannot pass in her presence.
Al-Aqsa Mosque: The Compass of Her Life
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the compass by which the heart of the Jerusalemite woman
is guided, not only in emotions but in everything she possesses. She is an
exceptional woman who holds the elements of strength, foremost of which is her
deep faith that she carries a sound creed and one of the holiest causes in the
world.
She learned this through reciting
the Qur’an and applying it in practice, as Allah Says, {Glory
be to the One Who took His servant ˹Muḥammad˺ by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque whose
surroundings We have blessed, so that We may show him some of Our signs.
Indeed, He alone is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing..} [Al-Isra’ 17:1]
Her awareness makes her follow
events closely and understand what is being plotted against Al-Aqsa. Thus, she
builds her family upon a deep connection with Jerusalem and the
blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, nursing her children not only with milk but also with
the values and status of Jerusalem, so that generations may grow carrying the same trust.
The Jerusalemite Woman: Unbreakable Faith and Steadfastness
Awareness often comes from an
active mother who understands her cause. She raises her children on the love of
Jerusalem and supports her husband in defending it, reminding him that
Jerusalem is more precious than life and wealth, and that sacrifices for Allah
are immense and never in vain.
Her deep faith in Allah makes her
strong and steadfast. She exposes and thwarts the occupation’s schemes, even if
it leads to her arrest, assault, financial fines, imprisonment, threats, or
exile. All this only increases her steadfastness in the justice of her cause.
She is the one who encourages her
sisters to form a fortress for Al-Aqsa through their steadfastness. She
realizes that her determination in defending Jerusalem and the creed is a duty that cannot be abandoned.
Her strength is rooted in the
words of Allah: {O believers! Whoever among you
abandons their faith, Allah will replace them with others who love Him and are
loved by Him. They will be humble with the believers but firm towards the
disbelievers, struggling in the Way of Allah; fearing no blame from anyone.
This is the favour of Allah. He grants it to whoever He wills. And Allah is
All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.} [Al-Ma’idah 5:54]
