Is There Peace?.. 720 Days Without the Day After

“You will never ever see the Israeli soldiers again here in your town”, this was the answer of a Palestinian policeman when I asked him as a 14 year old boy if our town near Hebron was liberated in 1996 when the Palestinian authority deployed its forces there.

The shock was that the Israeli settlers and army became the controlers of our life, the settlements were expanded, the road between Gaza and the West Bank was cut off, and day in day out the West Bank was isolated from Jerusalem. After years we had nothing to establish our state with sovereignty on.

On thecontrary; the settlements and the military bases turned the promised land of that state into fragments without geographical Continuity.

This is the story of the peace process that the international community was trying to achieve between the Palestinians and the Israeli, but the policy of the occupation that is dominated by the Israeli government led to the deepest conflict because of the doctrine of Israel to subject the Palestinians to live in a reserve like animals without sovereignty or state, instead of being able to live in peace with their neighbors.

720 Days and 75 Years of Conflict

It’s nota 7th of October issue, and it’s not Hamas’s or Fatah’s even Yaser Arafat’s; the former president of Palestine who was assassinated to vanish the state with sovereignty to diminish the existence of the Palestinians.

All these eras are the same as what we are living today, and the permanent policy of Israel is to ask the US to seek the day after  and to replace the Palestinian leadership by creating a scene of conflict to distort and demonize the resistance and the right of the Palestinians before the world, in order to pave the way for their plans of implementing the expansion into the Palestinian territory and even the Arab countries.

Wars, military operations, detention camps, isolation policy and restrictions are the Israeli methods to make life difficult for the Palestinians to force them to leave in favor of settlers and the nucleus of Greater Israel.

77 years of suffering and death due to the ignorance of the international community, coinciding with the total US support to make Israel not a state with good relations with its neighbors in peace and prosperity; but a state with power, aggression and expansionist policies to impose the new Middle East project in order to change the map of the region.

The formerpresident of the US said: “if there were not an Israel, we'd have to invent one.

It was a long bloody and sad story before the 7th of October, and now we witness the starvation and genocidein Gaza and the ethnic cleansing in the West Bank in spite of the good transformations in the world to hold Israel accountable and to stop the war, especially with the recent plan of the US which was approved by Hamas andArab and Islamic countries to bring peace to the region.

Will the Bloody Chapter End?

The opportunities of peace are increasing, and the stances of the world are changed to be more realistic to put more pressure on Israel to go through a real peace with the Palestinians according to the international law and the recent initiatives, especially the Arab peace one and the plan of Trump that Arab and Islamic leaders agreed on.

Many factors are motivating peace:

Hamas’s acceptance of a Palestinian state on the 1967 land according to its charter annex in 2017. This stance debunkedthe Israeli fake claims against the movement.

 The failure of the Israeli military choice against the resistance resulted in losing the ability to fight in the Israeli army, then the Israeli society lost the trust of its air defense system and the future of its country and its sectors especially security and the economy. That failure will lead to an end to the war for the sake of stability and peace to stop the exhaustion.

 ⁠The widespread storm of support for the Palestinians, and the isolation of Israel after its crimes against humanity and the international law.

The world’s priorities have changed by creating a new reality on the basis of the alliances and economy to strengthen their position after many conflicts as the Ukraine-Russia war and the current indefensible annihilating war against Gaza, and the tensions between Israel and the other countries.

It’s a last chance for all the parties to make the miracle of the century to end the conflict not to exploit the situation to expand Israel or to vanish the Palestinians, it’s a time of calm if good intentions are present.

At the same time, there will be an escalation and expansion of the war if the real well of the parties disappeared most notably Netanyahu because he is a master at flipping the script to serve his goals at the expense of the Palestinians and the Israeli society including the families of the prisoners and the elite of its society.

My displaced friend asked me two days ago:

 Will the ceasefire deal be signed soon? 

I was afraid to tell him that there are no signs, but I tried to numb him by saying that it depends on the course of things and Trump's seriousness in fulfilling his promise to end the wars in the world and to establish peace, especially in the Middle East.
