Five Good Tidings from Kyrgyzstan
We took a journey through the realms of charitable work in Kyrgyzstan, where we witnessed firsthand the fruits of the generosity of the people of Kuwait. We saw how their donations have been transformed into monuments of knowledge, healthcare projects, and gateways of mercy. Encouraged by this boundless giving, we reflect on the following observations:
The First Good Tiding:
The Kuwait International University stands as a proud
monument. At least 3,000 students have graduated from its halls, with many
alumni joining the private, government, and diplomatic sectors due to the
recognized quality of the university's education. We rejoiced in seeing these
fruits bear witness, and we bring glad tidings to everyone who contributed
through their donations—foremost among them the late Ghanima Al-Marzouq, may
Allah have mercy on her, who founded and contributed to planting the seed for
establishing this university, making it a grand educational endowment (waqf).
The Second Good Tiding:
The Quran Memorization Centers established by benevolent
donors warm the heart. You see young men and women dedicating themselves by
residing in these centers to memorize the Book of Allah. As we sat
listening to their beautiful recitations, our hearts filled with joy seeing
many who have completed the memorization of the Book of Allah and many others
well on their way, recalling the statement of the Prophet (PBUH): "The best among you are those who learn the Quran
and teach it." [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
The Third Good Tiding:
The Educational Complexes that accommodate hundreds of male
and female students from kindergarten through high school refine and nurture
them to become beacons of goodness and wholesome contributors to their society.
This is what we clearly sensed during our tours of the classrooms, guided by
their motto: "Whoever takes a path upon
which he seeks knowledge, Allah will make the path to Paradise easy for
him." [Sahih Muslim]
The Fourth Good Tiding:
The spread of health centers built by the people of Kuwait
serves as beacons of mercy, doors of benevolence, and a means to alleviate the
pain of patients and serve those in need. These patients raise their hands in
supplication for the people of Kuwait, bringing to mind the statement of Allah:
{And whoever saves a life, it will be as if they
had saved all of humanity.} [Al-Ma'idah,
5:32]
The Fifth Good Tiding:
We observed the diverse fruits planted by benevolent
givers—wells, mosques, schools, centers, and sponsorships for orphans and
students, among others. These stood as an encouragement for us to continue
along the path of goodness and to urge others toward giving, especially after
witnessing the tangible impact and hearing the sincere, uninterrupted
prayers—and above all, seeking the reward and blessing from Allah.
These good tidings are the fruit of the efforts of the late
Abdul Latif Al-Hajri, who was known as the "Father of Orphans" and
was the founder of charitable work in Kyrgyzstan. We ask Allah to accept
his deeds and grant him abundant reward, as he taught us the true meaning of
giving and leaving a lasting legacy.
The impact of these charitable donations seen in this worldly
life is hoped to be a stored treasure for their donors with Allah. The Prophet
(PBUH) brought us glad tidings when he said: "When
a human being dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity,
beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him." [Sahih
Muslim]
O Allah, grant us glad tidings that bring us joy, make our deeds purely for Your Noble Face, and let them stand as a witness for us on the Day we meet You, O Lord.
