My journey to Islam was deeply personal, transformative, and at times filled with doubt, especially when it came to sharing my new faith with those closest to me," says Canyon Mumbas, a recent convert. "However, I was blessed with extraordinary parents whose support transformed this path into one full of love and trust."

"I still remember the moment I decided to tell them I had embraced Islam. There was a flicker of fear—how would they react? Would they understand? But their reaction was wonderful. They accepted my decision with open hearts, and this support deepened over time."

"Recently, I returned home to spend some time with my family. I wasn't sure what to expect.  Would things be different? Would my faith cause a gap between us? But what happened was a series of quiet and powerful gestures that reminded me of how lucky I am."

On the first morning, my mother began her usual routine of playing music to start my day. In a fleeting moment of eye contact, she picked up her phone and, instead of music, she played a nasheed (Islamic song). It was a gentle but meaningful action, as if she were saying, "I see you. I respect and honor your faith."

Later that evening, my parents were watching a TV show and invited me to join. I declined, as it wasn't something I felt comfortable watching. The next day, my mom told me, "We're not going to watch that show anymore. If your religion prohibits it, we'll find another program." I was shocked, not because they changed the show, but because they cared enough to make space for my beliefs.

"I was one of the only Muslims in the city, so it was easy to feel isolated. But my experience was the exact opposite. My family and friends know I converted, and even my parents' friends know—and all of them have been so supportive. My parents, in particular, have become my biggest allies. My father and I have deep conversations. My mom is always looking out for me, whether it's checking restaurant ingredients for pork or simply paying attention to what we watch and listen to. She has proven that love can be expressed in the simplest and kindest ways."

"My journey was not just about faith, but also about family. I am so grateful to them. A salute to my mom and dad. Their kindness, respect, and unwavering support made my experience of converting to Islam truly wonderful."
