6 Reasons Palestinians Lost Faith in the World

Amid the ongoing Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip and the escalating
violations against civilians, Palestinians’ sense that the international
community has repeatedly failed them is growing. UN slogans and diplomatic
statements are no longer sufficient to convince the Palestinian people that a
truly fair international legal system exists.
Here are six main reasons
behind the erosion of Palestinians’ trust in the international community:
1.
Double Standards in International Positions:
Palestinians accuse Western
countries, led by the United States and European Union nations, of applying
human rights and humanitarian standards selectively. While sanctions are
swiftly imposed on other countries under the pretext of human rights, the
Zionist entity is granted political and diplomatic protection despite
committing documented war crimes and violations.
2.
UN Ineffectiveness in the Face of Violations:
Despite dozens of reports
issued by UN agencies on crimes committed in Palestinian territories, the
Security Council has remained unable to take binding decisions against the
Zionist state due to the U.S. veto. Major massacres have gone unpunished, and
the recommendations have turned into nothing more than a political archive.
3.
Failure of the International Criminal Court
to Act:
Despite the initiation of
preliminary investigations into war crimes committed in Gaza and the West Bank, the International Criminal Court’s severe
delays have provided cover for the Zionist state, reinforcing the belief that
international law is applied only to the weak.
4.
Overlooking the Zionist Siege and Massacres
in Gaza:
For over 17 years, the people
of Gaza have lived under a suffocating siege, one of the longest in modern
history, without the international community being able to lift it or even
effectively condemn it. Nearly two years have passed since the genocidal war on
Gaza and the accompanying destruction and massacres of civilians, yet no action
was taken to stop it. Palestinians consider this silence as complicity or
implicit acceptance of a policy of collective punishment.
5.
Collapse of the International Relief System
in the Latest War:
During the latest war, most
aid corridors were closed, UNRWA centers were bombed, and food and medical
supplies ran out. Yet, the international community did not effectively activate
its emergency mechanisms to save civilians, deepening Palestinians’ sense that
their lives are cheap in the eyes of the international community.
6.
Internationally-Supported Arab Normalization:
In recent years, there has
been a wave of normalization between
some Arab countries and the Zionist state, supported and encouraged by
international powers. Palestinians see this as a shift in the international
community’s political priorities at the expense of their cause, representing a
new bias against their national rights.
