Kuwait, Turkey cooperate to alleviate suffering of syrian refugees - Amb.

Kuwait and Turkey share similar stances of several political issues and cooperate effectively in addressing humanitarian consequences of the Syrian crisis, Kuwait's Ambassador to Turkey Ghassan Al-Zawawi has stated on sunday.

"Kuwait, under His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has been playing a pivotal and decisive role in dealing with the humanitarian repercussions of the Syrian conflict," Al-Zawawi told KUNA.

Kuwait hosted three consecutive international conferences for Syria donors and financed the establishment of a village for Syrian refugees in the southern Turkish city of Kilis, he added.

He pointed out that Kuwaiti government and non-government humanitarian and relief agencies have been exerting relentless efforts to help Syrian refugees in Turkey and relieve the heavy burden on the back of Turkish government is this regard.

He argued that Turkey bears the burden of hosting three millions of Syrian refugees and providing them with their basic needs.
On His Highness the Amir's visit, Al-Zawawi noted that Turkish government and people are delighted by the expected visit of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad.

On the visit agenda, the ambassador clarified that it includes a summit meeting between His Highness the Amir and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, high-level talks between the accompanying senior Kuwaiti delegation and their Turkish counterparts, and a ceremony for signing a number of cooperation agreements in the fields of defense, Islamic Affairs and tourism as well as agreements between the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Developments and Turkish institutions for financing several development projects in various Turkish governorates.

Al-Zawawi stated that Kuwait and Turkey have a "very good" relations at all levels, especially in economy.

There are huge Kuwaiti investments in Turkey in various sectors especially banks, real estate, Tourism, he said, adding that there are great opportunities for increasing such investments in the future, he pointed out.

He reiterated Kuwait's support for stability in Turkey and condemnation of the terrorist attacks and the recent foiled coup attempt.
