- Officials say assailant attacked officer while he was guarding bank and then turned to stab another cop
CAIRO – Two police officers were injured in northern Egypt after an assailant stabbed them in Tanta, the regional capital of Gharbia province, a security source told Anadolu Agency.
This is the first time a suspect attacks Egyptian security forces in this manner.
According to the source, one of the injured said the assailant attacked him while he was guarding a bank and then turned to stab another police officer.
Police managed to arrest the suspect.
Meanwhile, a police conscript was killed and nine others were injured Saturday when their armored vehicle struck a roadside improvised explosive device in Sinai, a security source told Anadolu Agency.
The source said that an “IED went off while a police armored vehicle was passing in al-Zohour district [in Arish city].”
