When a non-Muslim commits a crime, they are tried as an individual. However, when a Muslim commits a crime, the entire religion and Islamic community goes on trial. This must stop. Crimes against Muslims must be recognised as acts of terror and the perpetrators held accountable accordingly. When Muslims worship they must be allowed to do so peacefully without intervention from the government or the local community. Unfortunately, the UK is guilty of interfering with the freedom of the Muslim community to practice its religion peacefully. A simple example is the suspension of parking bays by Brent Council outside the mosques on every religious occasion.
We need the government to take action to protect Muslim worshippers not interfere with their practices. There have been many incidents when Muslims emerging from worship have been attacked yet the police fail to take steps to protect these places of worship during holy days. However, they do not hesitate to send noise enforcement officers to these places of worship because a local resident has complained of an unjustified noise nuisance.
This discrimination must stop and we must unite in this cause to ensure the wider community acknowledges and accepts crimes against the Muslim community as acts of terrorism and the appropriate action is taken to protect Muslims during holy days of worship.
