Kuwaiti airlift delivers 40 tons of food, shelter aid to Syria

The fourth humanitarian airlift flight from Kuwait arrived at Damascus International Airport on Wednesday, carrying 40 tons of food and shelter aid as part of the ongoing Kuwait airbridge campaign. The mission is aimed at assisting the most vulnerable groups in Syria under the humanitarian initiative “Kuwait By Your Side,” organized by the Al-Salam Charitable and Humanitarian Society, in coordination with Kuwait’s Ministries of Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, and Defense, with the support of the Kuwait Air Force.

Dina Salameh, spokesperson for the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Kuwait is in continuous contact with the Syrian Red Crescent to assess essential needs and expedite deliveries. The assistance is immediately distributed to the most vulnerable families, including those caring for the disabled, people suffering from chronic illnesses, and those unable to support themselves due to extreme poverty and harsh living conditions.

The aid has been distributed in various regions, including Daraa, Lattakia, and Homs, where the humanitarian situation remains dire due to consecutive crises. Salama praised the efforts of the Kuwaiti authorities and charitable organizations for their ongoing humanitarian work, emphasizing that this reflects the true spirit of the Kuwaiti people. — KUNA

Namaa Charity brings hope to Gaza with winter aid, tarpaulins

Kuwait’s Namaa Charity is carrying out a campaign to support needy families and children in Gaza, in collaboration with its field partner, the Palestine Al-Ghad Society for Community Development. Walid Al-Bassam, Head of Projects and Development at the charity, said Namaa is distributing clothing packages to over 115 children. The packages included winter clothing and essential items for children and newborns. Additionally, blankets and mats were distributed to 55 families, and 68 tarpaulin sheets were installed to protect 34 tents from rain.

He said the campaign is a continuation of Namaa Charity’s efforts to support people in Gaza, who are facing dire humanitarian conditions due to the Zionist attack and siege and harsh cold weather. He added that distributing clothing packages for children and essentials for newborns reflects the charity’s “commitment to upholding the dignity of families and supporting children, who represent the most vulnerable group in these circumstances.”

Chairperson of Palestine Al-Ghad Society for Community Development, Manal Seyam, said the campaign “comes at a critical time, as the people of Gaza face daily challenges in securing their basic needs.” She added that distributing clothing packages to children “has brought smiles to their faces and given them a sense of warmth in these harsh conditions,” pointing to the importance of the tarpaulin installation.

Seyam explained that installing 68 tarpaulin sheets for the displaced families’ tents was a vital step to protect them from rain and strong winds, especially as many tents were damaged due to the weather conditions. She noted that the goal of the aid is to meet material needs and strengthen the resilience of the affected families, protecting them from diseases caused by the cold and humidity. — KUNA

Balad al-Khair launched the "Water Outpouring Fund" project, which aims to provide clean water in many areas within the State of Kuwait, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of Awqaf.

The past period has witnessed cooperation between the association and the Awqaf Authority to implement several charitable projects within the State of Kuwait.

The Director of Al-Balad Al-Khayr Association concluded by affirming that the upcoming period will witness more efforts as everyone remains committed to lending a helping hand to those in need and making further efforts to improve the lives of beneficiaries in Kuwait.

Graduation of 400 Pakistani Youth in a Technology Program Funded by the Charity Authority

 The Decision to Emigrate

Many of us, for various reasons, have decided to travel and leave our country to start a new life in a new country. Often, that life is different from what we were accustomed to in our home country. There, the culture and customs differ, and perhaps even appearance and clothing. Even language and religion may differ.

 Integration and Identity

From here begins the difficult equation between the integration of a person into the new society and coexisting with it, along with his family, while maintaining their identity and clinging to the religion, culture, and customs they lived with before their expatriation. Each of us remains in a state of intense confusion between considering their new life in exile as a temporary phase that should pass quickly until they return to their homeland. As a result, expatriates may disregard the importance of integrating with the new society and engaging with its cultures, arts, and politics. Consequently, the isolation increases over the years, and things become more complicated as children enter the stages of adolescence and then maturity in the new society.

 Fascination with the New Society

On the other hand, some express fascination with the new society and eagerly seek to merge into it with full force, perhaps motivated by the misery of the reality they experienced in their homeland and their desire to change their way of life. However, they encounter many challenges that begin from the very first day, regarding the acceptance of the new society, as well as the possibility of losing their identity over time, especially in the second and third generations of their children.

Historical Insights

Studying history, specifically the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and understanding it correctly is one of the most important means to answer many questions and situations that arise in our lives. This has led to searching through the pages of his biography for the closest events and periods that can be referred to as a reference and guide in understanding the details of the life of the emigrants.

Migration to Medina

The migration to Medina was a migration to establish the emerging Islamic state in a new community that shared the same culture, language, and religion. Everyone who migrated there was aware that this was a new phase in their lives and not a temporary displacement. Therefore, it does not apply to what we are searching for or to the reality we are currently facing, in which some are fleeing from their homelands in search of a better life in terms of safety and stability.

Migration to Abyssinia

As for what closely resembles the state of alienation that many people experience in our time, it is the migration to Abyssinia. A group of Muslims emigrated after their homelands became narrow for them; it was difficult for them to continue their lives in Mecca, as the doors were closed, and safety was lost. They were besieged and restricted in their daily sustenance. Here came the indication from the noble Prophet, peace be upon him: "If you go to the land of Abyssinia, there is a king there under whom no one is wronged," which initiated the journey of migration to a country that is completely different in terms of customs, culture, language, and religion. You can imagine how many years the Muslims lived in Abyssinia—not just one year, nor five, nor even ten years, but a full fifteen years living and coexisting in a state and society completely different from the reality of Muslims in Mecca.

Questions About Integration

We start with the famous position of the Negus with our master Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, and there are many unanswered questions that we will try to address through this series. For example: Did the migrants integrate into the new Abyssinian society, or did the differences in language, culture, and religion remain a barrier to integration? Where did the migrants reside in Abyssinia? What type of work did they engage in to earn their living? And how were their sources of income?

Challenges of Exile

Do they learn the language of the land of exile (Abyssinian), or did they consider their presence in Abyssinia to be a temporary station and therefore unnecessary? Did they maintain their traditional attire or change it to align with the new society? To what extent did they engage with the political system of the host country? Did Muslims leave an impact on the new society? How did Muslims in Abyssinia respond to the two attempts to overthrow the ruler of the state (the Negus)? And what was their political vision for dealing with the developments of events?

Difficulties and Consequences

Suppose we know that there were Muslims who emigrated to Abyssinia who renounced Islam and returned to Christianity. In that case, this gives a clear indicator of the scale of the challenges and difficulties faced by Muslims in exile, and of the pains of alienation and its impact on the expatriate. We might expect that after Muslims continued in Abyssinia for more than fifteen years, there would be a large number of Abyssinians who embraced Islam. However, the surprise is that those numbers remained limited and there was no real expansion of Islam in the land of Abyssinia. What is the reason for that? Did the Najashi, the king of Abyssinia, really convert to Islam? If the answer is yes, isn't that an opportune opportunity to spread Islam throughout the entire state and to take advantage of the influence and power of the ruler?

The objective of the Series

Those questions and others will be addressed in detail, with the primary goal being to derive lessons and insights from that unique experience in Islamic history, which has not received its due attention in writing and research. In fact, one of the greatest difficulties facing those who seek knowledge and wish to learn more about this period is the scarcity of historical sources. The well-known books of biography did not cover the details of the Muslims' lives in Abyssinia as they did with other events in Mecca and Medina. This may be due to the geographical distance, and perhaps the difficulty of communication. However, this necessitated further research into the biographical sources and both Arab and foreign historical references that dealt with that period to obtain as much information as possible, in addition to a thorough investigation in the references and biographies of each of the eighty-seven emigrants, whose emigration to Abyssinia is agreed upon in the books of biography, to delve into the details of their lives, and to search between the lines in their diaries, to extract any additional information that may help in understanding that period of our history. All of this is aimed at drawing lessons and insights that can assist us in gaining a deeper understanding of our present, particularly in terms of the jurisprudence of life in exile.

Upcoming Episodes

If we want to know the beginning of the journey of sailing to Abyssinia, where it settled, the challenges of the new diaspora that began from the first day of migrating to Abyssinia, the story of the bribery that accompanied the ascension of the Negus to the throne, and whether the migration to Abyssinia was for the poor and oppressed fleeing from the oppression of Quraysh, or whether it included the wealthy and prominent figures to achieve other goals? This is what we will attempt to reveal in more detail in the upcoming episode of the series, God willing.

Kuwait represents a global pioneering model in the field of charitable and humanitarian work, where the culture of giving is intertwined with the Kuwaiti society, including its leadership, government, and people. However, charitable work within Kuwait faces a set of challenges that require innovative and sustainable approaches to address them. In this report, we highlight the main challenges facing charitable work in Kuwait, as well as the possible opportunities to overcome them and achieve sustainability in this vital field.

Key Challenges of Charitable Work in Kuwait

  1. Lack of Funding for Major Projects

Despite the evident generosity of Kuwait, some major charitable projects suffer from a lack of funding. This poses a challenge to the implementation of large initiatives that require sustainable resources to ensure their continuity and effectiveness.

  1. Qualified Personnel

There is a notable shortage of qualified personnel who possess the necessary experience and skills to manage and execute charitable projects efficiently. This impacts the quality of charitable operations and limits their ability to achieve the desired impact.

  1. Legislative and Regulatory Challenges

The laws governing charitable work in Kuwait face some restrictions that may hinder innovation and development. There is a pressing need for modern laws that align with global developments to ensure the smooth operation of charitable work and expand its scope.

  1. Weak Coordination among Stakeholders

The absence of an effective coordinating framework among charitable organizations, government institutions, and international organizations leads to fragmented efforts and overlapping roles, which weakens the positive impact of charitable work.

  1. Cybersecurity and Data Protection

With the increasing reliance on technology in managing charitable operations, the challenge of protecting sensitive information and data from cyber threats arises. Cybersecurity is an urgent necessity to safeguard both donors and beneficiaries alike.

  1. Dealing with Emergency Crises

Charitable work in Kuwait requires a rapid response to urgent humanitarian crises, such as natural disasters or economic emergencies. This presents a significant challenge in securing the necessary resources and ensuring immediate coordination among relevant entities.

  1. Lack of Community Awareness about the Importance of Charitable Work

Despite the significant legacy of charitable work in Kuwait, there is a need to enhance community awareness about the importance of participating in charitable activities. The lack of this awareness negatively impacts the ability of organizations to attract volunteers and supporters.

  1. Challenges Related to Transparency and Credibility

Trust between charitable organizations and donors requires transparent and effective management of resources. In some cases, a lack of transparency can affect the level of trust and limit contributions from individuals and institutions.

  1. Technology and Digital Development

Despite the efforts made to adopt digital solutions, many organizations face challenges in keeping up with technological advancements. The need for advanced digital platforms that facilitate donation processes and increase communication with donors has become essential for achieving greater efficiency.

  1. Achieving Sustainability

Excessive reliance on traditional donations poses a challenge to achieving sustainability. There is a need to develop innovative funding models that ensure the continuity of charitable projects without fully depending on external financial support.

Ways to Address Challenges

To overcome these challenges, a number of solutions and plans can be adopted, including:

- Strengthening Partnerships: Building strong partnerships with governmental bodies and international organizations to unify efforts and achieve integration among various parties.

- Developing Human Resources: Launching targeted training programs to qualify personnel working in the charitable sector.

- Updating Legislation: Formulating modern laws that support charitable work and enhance its flexibility to keep pace with changes.

- Investing in Technology: Developing innovative digital platforms to improve donation processes and project management.

- Increasing Community Awareness: Launching awareness campaigns to enhance the culture of giving and encourage individuals to contribute to charitable work.

- Enhancing Transparency: Implementing good governance practices to increase trust between organizations and donors.

Despite the challenges facing charitable work within Kuwait, the strong will and rich legacy of giving form a solid foundation to overcome them. Through innovation, proper planning, and cooperation among various parties, the sustainability of charitable work can be achieved, ensuring its continuity as a fundamental pillar of social and economic development, thereby enhancing Kuwait's position as a beacon of humanitarian giving globally.

The Israeli occupation forces continue to commit acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip, for the 465th consecutive day, by launching dozens of airstrikes and artillery shelling, while perpetrating massacres against civilians amid a catastrophic humanitarian situation resulting from the siege and the displacement of more than 95% of the population.

Correspondents reported that the occupation planes and artillery continued their airstrikes and intense shelling on Monday across various areas of the Gaza Strip, targeting homes, gathering places of displaced people, and streets, resulting in dozens of martyrs and injuries.

The occupation forces continue their ground invasion of extensive neighborhoods in Rafah since May 7, 2024, and several fronts in Gaza amid ongoing air and artillery bombardment, while they have continued their third invasion of northern Gaza since October 5, with continuous airstrikes and artillery shelling, completely isolating the northern governorate from the city of Gaza.

Additionally, for the 81st consecutive day, the occupation forces have been forcibly disrupting the work of civil defense teams in northern Gaza due to the ongoing bombardment, depriving the remaining citizens there of the most basic levels of humanitarian and medical care.

The Ministry of Health announced that the Israeli occupation committed two massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 19 martyrs and 71 injuries arriving at hospitals during the past 24 hours.

The ministry confirmed in its update on Monday that the toll of the Israeli aggression has risen to 46,584 martyrs and 109,731 injuries since October 7, 2023.

Two martyrs rose, and others were injured due to an Israeli bombardment targeting a gathering of citizens around the Zahhar Junction in the middle of Gaza City.

One martyr rose, and others were injured due to Israeli shelling around the Dabit Junction on Al-Jalaa Street in western Gaza City.

Citizen Ahmad Mufeed Subhi Awadallah was martyred as a result of an attack by an Israeli drone that targeted him while he was on a motorcycle on Monday morning in the Hamed City, north of Khan Younis.

Six citizens, including three children and two women, were injured as a result of Israeli shelling targeting displaced individuals inside the Abu Rish marble factory in the Burak area, west of Khan Younis.

Israeli warplanes struck a car north of Rafah, with reports of five martyrs at the site.

Citizens were injured in an air strike by the occupation targeting a group of citizens in Jabalia town, northern Gaza Strip.

Five citizens were martyred, and others were injured due to shelling by the occupation on Salah al-Din School, which shelters displaced individuals in western Gaza governorate.

Five citizens were martyred, and others were injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a house in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, on Sunday night.

At the same time, the occupation army blew up residential buildings in the Shurfatawi area, north of Gaza City.

Israeli naval forces shelled the "Izba" area in the coastal Mawasi, west of Rafah city.

In the midst of the sound of shelling and the explosion of rockets, and amidst the smell of death that emanates from everywhere in the Gaza Strip, the genocidal war being waged by "Israel" has entered its 464th consecutive day, continuing to commit massacres against civilians.

The Gaza Ministry of Health stated that the Israeli occupation committed two massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 28 martyrs and 89 injured reaching hospitals during the past 24 hours. The ministry, in its daily statistical report on the number of martyrs and injured as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression for the 464th day against the Gaza Strip, pointed out that there are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and the ambulance and civil defense teams are unable to reach them.

It confirmed the increase in the toll of aggression on the Strip since October 7, 2023, to 46,565 martyrs and 109,660 injured.

According to the report issued by the Ministry of Health in Gaza yesterday, Saturday, the number of Israeli aggression has risen to 46,537 martyrs, in addition to 109,571 injuries of varying severity, including serious and very serious cases, since October 7.

- Martyrs and new injuries

This morning, Sunday, two citizens were martyred, and others were wounded due to the shelling by Israeli warships and artillery on areas east of Al-Nuseirat and the Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza Strip. Medical sources also announced the martyrdom of the child Karam Tariq Aslim, who succumbed to his injuries due to the shelling of the occupation's planes on Gaza City several days ago.

- Targeting medical crews

Ambulance officer Hassan Al-Kahlout from Jabalia camp was martyred, affected by his injuries due to the occupation's shelling in northern Gaza, continuing the targeting of medical crews and humanitarian institutions.

- Ongoing shelling on various areas

The occupation forces shelled the northeastern areas of Rafah city in the southern sector, while warships targeted the beach of Al-Nuseirat in the middle of the sector, coinciding with artillery shelling on eastern areas of the city. The occupation forces also launched flares west of Rafah city and demolished residential buildings in northern Gaza, while simultaneously targeting the Al-Nuseirat camp.

- New casualties in house shelling

One citizen was martyred, and two others were injured, in the shelling of the occupation's planes on a house in the Al-Qadi neighborhood in the town of Abasan Al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis. Last night, three martyrs fell as a result of shelling on a tent in the Al-Hakr area of Deir al-Balah, namely: Khalil Adnan Youssef Eid, Dima Adli Eid, and Adnan Khalil Eid. Four citizens were martyred, and others were injured in the shelling on Al-Nafaq Street in the Al-Daraj area, in central Gaza City.

Humanitarian situation:

The sector is experiencing tragic conditions amid the ongoing aggression, as the suffering of civilians escalates due to the disruption of communications and the collapse of basic services. In contrast, the Palestinian resistance asserts its continued response to the occupation's crimes, amidst international calls to stop the aggression and open urgent investigations.

With 464 days of aggression passing, the people of Gaza prove their steadfastness in the face of the Israeli war machine, affirming that the occupation will not break the will of the Palestinians, no matter how intense the shelling becomes.

  • Israeli Writer: Normalization is Better for "Tel Aviv" Instead of Dealing a Devastating Blow to Iran
  • Economic and Social Crises Accelerate the Normalization Train Between 'Tel Aviv' and the Arab World
  • Netanyahu: "This corridor will realize a vision that dates back many years, which will change the face of the Middle East and the face of 'Israel.'"

Despite not having assumed his position yet, Israeli media predict a warm and strong relationship between Donald Trump and the "Tel Aviv" government, as well as an increase in his support for Benjamin Netanyahu, especially since the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip is still ongoing, along with the occupation of lands in Syria and Lebanon.

 Trump's Inauguration

As Netanyahu awaits January 20 to travel to Washington for Trump's inauguration—he is one of the invited guests to the grand ceremony—it is worth noting that he was among the first to congratulate the U.S. president immediately after the announcement of his election victory last November, famously stating, "Congratulations on the greatest comeback in history," even though Trump himself attacked Netanyahu shortly after he congratulated his predecessor, Joe Biden, in 2020 when Biden entered the White House as President of the United States, as reported by Israeli journalist Barak Ravid in his book titled "Trump's Peace."

Ravid recounts that Trump leveled severe criticism at Netanyahu, to which the latter expressed his appreciation for what Trump had done for his country, saying, "I greatly appreciate President Trump's significant contributions to Israel and its security," in a display of political cunning to avoid losing the trust and support of the entire American Republican Party, alongside his expectation that Trump could return to the White House again, which indeed happened!

As a result, the Hebrew media has raised the possibility of Trump reviving the stalled normalization process between "Tel Aviv" and Arab countries in light of the outbreak of the "Flood of Al-Aqsa" operation on October 7, 2023, which the Zionist entity asserted was a primary reason for the halt of the normalization train in practice.

On November 13, 2023, the Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" reported that Trump dreams of normalization between "Tel Aviv" and a major Arab state in the region, and that all the appointments announced by the elected president are very close to the Israeli right, especially Steven Charles Witkoff, whom he appointed as a special envoy to the Middle East. The newspaper clarified that Witkoff will work on annexing more Arab lands to the entity and will also be the "architect" of normalization between the entity and Arab and Islamic countries as well—this is an Israeli and American vision that always supports Netanyahu and his government, and he often tweets about this on his official page on "X."

Orly Azulay, a writer for the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth," observed on December 18, 2024, that Trump's intervention to sign a historic normalization agreement between the Zionist entity and major Arab states is better for "Tel Aviv" rather than delivering a devastating blow to Iran. She pointed out that the elected American president squandered a huge opportunity for "Israel" when he withdrew—she described it as "tearing apart" the agreement—from the Iranian nuclear deal in 2018, arguing that he gave Tehran the chance to leap towards a nuclear bomb. However, Azulay suggested in her article that Netanyahu is the voice that whispered in Trump's ear, pushing him to exit the agreement with Iran, in the context of her discussion on normalization, speculating that the elected U.S. president will engage in the normalization process under the pretext of achieving U.S. ("Israeli") interests in the Middle East.

Two days after this article, specifically on December 20, the Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, former advisor, and architect of the Abraham Accords, stated that Trump could reach an agreement with a major Arab country within just six months, expanding the circle of peace in the Middle East.

 American Vision

Kushner did not stop there; he indicated that large Islamic countries (Pakistan and Indonesia) are expected to join the peace agreements with the Israeli entity, as well as other Islamic countries around the world. He claimed that the new vision of the Trump administration revolves around connectivity from Haifa port to Muscat in Oman, representing an economic vision based on the economic corridor project announced by U.S. President Joe Biden in September 2023, which was halted by "the Flood of Al-Aqsa." This corridor extends from India to the Middle East and reaches Europe, raising many questions, especially since Netanyahu welcomed it on the tenth of the same month (September 2023).

Netanyahu said at the time: "This corridor will realize a vision that dates back many years, which will change the face of the Middle East and the face of 'Israel.'"

There is a connection between the Biden administration's vision for the economic corridor from India to Europe and what Netanyahu claims regarding the formation of a new Middle East. This connection is especially pertinent as he presented a map of this corridor during his speech at the UN General Assembly on September 23, 2023. As Trump is a first-class businessman, he would align with this vision and even support it, as it serves Zionist-American interests, especially since the activation and implementation of this corridor means proceeding with the "normalization" train.

The Train of Normalization Moves Reluctantly

On November 10, 2024, the "Jerusalem Post" predicted that countries affected by the war in the Gaza Strip hope Trump will push Netanyahu to end the war in the sector quickly, due to the economic and social damages that they will endure for years to come. The paper indicated that Arab countries expect the new Trump administration to provide more incentives to advance the normalization option.

This comes at a time when the newspaper expected Trump to push through Netanyahu's extreme policies, such as annexing areas in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Syria, and southern Lebanon, despite his announcement to work on ending the war in the Middle East. However, it would serve Zionist-American interests, especially since he has received significant support from the American right.

 Severe Economic and Social Crises

This expectation is attributed to what the United Nations Development Program observed in January 2024 regarding the costs of the war in Gaza on the three neighboring countries of occupied Palestine—Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon—experiencing severe economic damages within just three months of the war's onset, amounting to $10.3 billion, with expectations of a refugee influx, rising public debt, and declines in trade and tourism. There was a 30% reduction in traffic in the Suez Canal during the same month, increasing to 60% over the past three months, while Egypt lost approximately $7 billion due to Houthi strikes on the Israeli entity and the suspension of actions in the Red Sea.

 American Incentives

However, just before the Zionist war on southern Lebanon, Beirut was primarily suffering from a severe financial crisis that led to a significant collapse of its national currency, where the Lebanese lira lost over 90% of its value; this had a substantial impact on the purchasing power of citizens. This crisis coincided with high inflation and a nearly 50% decline in gross domestic product.

In contrast, Jordan was also affected by the war on Gaza, as revenues from the tourism sector dropped by 20% during the first half of 2024, with a noticeable decline in the number of tourists; meanwhile, the costs of raw materials and production inputs rose, after delays in their arrival due to Houthis' attacks in the Red Sea, causing confusion among Jordanian factories. Local forecasts suggest that the continuation of the war could exacerbate the economic crisis in the Kingdom, placing it before significant challenges in the future.

Thus, following a brief discussion on the extent of the economic damage suffered by Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt as a result of the Zionist war on Gaza, we are faced with an anticipated attempt from the new administration of Donald Trump to leverage economic promises to support certain Arab countries, in order to normalize relations with the Zionist entity or to coerce them into doing so through additional incentives!

 Messages from Prisoners

A number of messages from the prisoners of the entity broadcasted by "Al-Qassam Brigades" through Arab satellite channels were followed by the entire world. These messages affected the official and popular global street to a certain extent, narrating what the world perceives as humanitarian tragedies for individuals with no fault of their own, imprisoned for 460 days in a relentless war of annihilation that continues nonstop.

 Casualties Among Prisoners

Among these prisoners are those who lost their lives due to the bombardment of their criminal army, which shows no regard for their presence, nor does it differentiate between a hospital, a residence, or a tent overwhelmed by rain, under which fall incendiary bombs killing women, premature infants, or elderly people who cannot carry themselves to safe places since, simply put, there is no safe place anywhere. Thus, those who are killed are killed, and those who are injured are injured, whether they are civilians or prisoners, without any care from the killers for the life of any human being, regardless of their religion, nationality, gender, or age.

 Layali Al-Bajj's Message

At the beginning of this week, satellite channels aired a recorded video of the nineteen-year-old female soldier, Layali Al-Bajj, who stated that she had spent 450 days in captivity. In it, she delivered several powerful humanitarian messages to the entity’s Prime Minister—seemingly unaware of the current events, including the fact that he is bedridden receiving treatment following an urgent surgery, and that those managing the scene are the war council convening around the clock. She directed her message to the Prime Minister, whom she claimed to know personally, asking him to face her parents and inform them that she and her companions would not return. This message was aimed at pressuring the families of the prisoners and public opinion concerned about them and the events of the war, as well as exerting pressure on the entity's government and those involved in the negotiations that returned to the table to accept a deal to end the war, suggesting that there is no way for their rescue and return alive while the war continues.

The Genius of the Image and the Choice of the Sender

The prisoner began her speech appearing in a state of severe psychological defeat, dressed in military attire—most likely the uniform she was captured in, which she clearly has not worn since her capture. "Al-Qassam" chose this outfit to inform the viewer that she is not an ordinary teenage girl, but a soldier who knows what she is saying and can understand the severity of her situation. She can also distinguish the type and magnitude of the bombardment and its source, recognizing that the missiles falling on them like raindrops in the harsh winter of Gaza are from the army she was conscripted into, which has shown no regard for their lives as soldiers or civilians, and continues its ethnic cleansing agenda regardless of the safety of its own soldiers.

 Psychological State of the Captive

The captive appeared to be in a state of severe psychological weakness despite her apparent physical strength; this suggests care that perhaps the children of Gaza, who are rising continuously around the clock, do not receive. However, her humanitarian words were sharp against her government’s leader and their army, as she directed direct accusations at them for being complicit in their killing as long as they pursued the same policy of continuing the war. She even accused them of intentionally sacrificing them.

 Distress Messages

She concluded her remarks by sending distress messages to her family and that of her injured colleague, who is awaiting certain death unless the war is immediately stopped through some form of agreement.

 Mobilizing the "Israeli" Street

The "Qassam" (the military wing of Hamas) excelled in choosing the person to carry these messages to mobilize the "Israeli" street against the daily genocide. They also timed the resumption of negotiations again to exert humanitarian pressure on the silent world, especially since the tragedy of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians did not move them on two levels; the first is the war of the entity, and the second is the authority of Abbas, which is complicit in killing, arresting, tracking, and coldly handing over Palestinians. This authority even closes the "Al Jazeera" office to follow the same path as the entity in killing and liquidating the cause, making it another arm against the resistance and innocent landowners in their own land.

 Sympathy and Broader Perspective

Anyone who followed the brief talk of the captive might feel sympathy for her as she is a girl and appeared to be like a scared child – while I am certain that millions around the world sympathized with her as a humanitarian case – but if the same observer were to be fair and broaden their view of the overall scene, they would see crimes that cannot be forgiven or forgotten. They would see that on the other side of the event, there are massacres that will remain a stain on humanity, one that history will not forget for all who witnessed it and hesitated to support its people, even with a word.

Living Messages of Pain Around the Clock

Ironically, on the day the controversial video of the entity's captive was released, considered the most impactful since the onset of the war, according to analysts, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the martyrdom of at least 60 Palestinians in a single day, along with dozens of injured, including children and women, due to airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since the dawn of Saturday, January 4. Media outlets broadcast scenes of mothers bidding farewell to their sons, including some who were saying goodbye to their only child with a stunned gaze, refusing to believe the news.

 Multiple Causes of Death

It is no longer solely the bullets of the occupation that are killing the children of Gaza; rather, the factors of death have multiplied, with many causes, including freezing to death due to the extreme cold. The world recently witnessed the heartbreaking scene of twins who died of cold and hunger not having reached ten days old! The world also saw the state of tents in Gaza that offer no shelter from rain, do not protect from cold, nor provide a place where a child can rest a little before death strikes at any moment. Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), stated that children in the Gaza Strip are freezing to death due to the cold weather and lack of shelter!

 Destruction of Shelters

They bombed the schools that were sheltering them, they bombed the hospitals where they sought refuge, and they bombed the mosques, leaving no standing wall for humans or animals to cling to. The message from the captive was painfully human, but there are hundreds of daily messages that come through the satellite channels that are more painful, more horrifying, and more intense, and they do not stop for a moment, day or night. Those piercing messages say: There is a people being exterminated in plain sight of the world, that there are doctors being kidnapped from their hospitals and tortured, that there are thousands of girls like “Liri” who have no refuge, no shelter, and no hope for life even until morning, and that there are thousands of families who cannot demonstrate or hold sit-ins in front of a church or in front of the prime minister's house to protect their children and work for their return. All of these are preoccupied with a tent to drain rainwater, or busy burying their loved ones who are being eaten by dogs in the disaster-stricken streets of Gaza, or occupied in carrying containers to seek some warm and non-existent meals that the children bring back, either returning empty-handed or not returning at all.

 A Call to Humanity

The world that followed yesterday's message and sympathized with one of them must listen with another ear to these painful cries and see with both eyes before all of humanity pays a heavy price for its disgraceful silence about what is happening. It truly was a painful message humanly, but it was also a brilliant message to be added to the genius of “Al-Qassam” in everything it offers. Will it bear fruit in stopping the senseless slaughter and give an entire people the chance to grieve as befits humanity, to gather their wounds and bury their martyrs? Or will it pass like its predecessors to messages without awakening the conscience of the oblivious world?
