RAMALLAH, Occupied Palestine
Zionist army forces rounded up 23 Palestinians in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Prisoner Society said on Sunday.
The NGO, however, did not give details about the accusations leveled against the detainees.
There has been no comment from the Zionist military on the report.
The NGO said last week that more than 1,800 Palestinians have been arrested by Zionist forces in the occupied West Bank and Arab towns inside Israel since mid-April.
Meanwhile, the Prisoner Society said two Palestinian detainees maintained their hunger strike for the 19th consecutive day in protest of their prison conditions and administrative detention, a policy that allows Israeli authorities to hold Palestinians without charge or trial.
Around 4,400 Palestinians are estimated to be held in Zionist prisons, including 39 women, 115 children and 350 administrative detainees, according to Palestinian rights groups.
Turkish forces have neutralized 124 PKK terrorists amid ongoing operations in northern Iraq, Turkey's national defense minister said on Sunday.
Turkey launched Operations Pence-Simsek and Pence-Yildirim last month in the Metina and Avasin-Basyan regions in northern Iraq.
In 2021, a total of 1,107 terrorists have been neutralized so far, Hulusi Akar said in an address at the Sedef shipyard in Istanbul.
"Turkish forces continue to destroy lairs of the terrorists. Turkish soldiers are checking all the caves, streams, and hills there, one by one," Akar added.
The terrorist group PKK often uses bases in northern Iraq, just across Turkey's southern border, to hide out and plot terror attacks in Turkey.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
Peaceful resolution with int'l law
Speaking about the current issues in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, as well as Cyprus, Akar said: "We're in favor of the peaceful resolution of these problems within the framework of international law and good neighborly relations by talking and negotiating with our Greek neighbors."
However, he added, "Our Greek neighbors are doing their best to sabotage the positive state of affairs with their actions and discourse."
It would be impossible for the two sides to make any progress with these "provocations," Akar noted./aa
Hundreds of vaccinated citizens passed through Kuwait International Airport (KIA), from several countries, and they exited the airport after completing the entry procedures without any arrangements for quarantine, which was previously a requirement for those entering Kuwait, Al Qabas reported. This was due to a decision by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and other concerned authorities, on Saturday to exempt vaccinated citizens coming to the country and those recovering from the coronavirus infection from the quarantine decision.
DGCA stated that the Cabinet’s decision on preventing non-Kuwaiti passengers from entering the country is still in effect until further notice.
It also highlighted the need for all travelers arriving at Kuwait International Airport to present a 72-hour PCR test certificate proving they tested negative for the coronavirus infection, whether the passenger was inoculated with the vaccine or not yet vaccinated.
The approved vaccines against the Coronavirus inside or outside the State of Kuwait are Pfizer Bionic vaccine, AstraZeneca – Oxford vaccine, Moderna vaccine, and Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Meanwhile, citizens and their companions of first-degree relatives (husband, wife and children) and domestic workers are not permitted to travel outside Kuwait unless they have been immunized with an approved vaccine. The decision entered into effect on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
The following categories are excluded from the circular:
1- Citizens who obtained a certificate approved by the Ministry of Health stating they were unable to obtain the vaccine due to health reasons.
2- Pregnant citizens, with a certificate of proof of pregnancy, issued and approved by the Ministry of Health.
3 – Age groups not subject to vaccination.
4- Kuwaiti students studying abroad, provided the student has been vaccinated with at least one dose, and there is proof of pursuing education abroad and receiving the vaccine.
5- Members of diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Kuwait.
Kuwaiti travelers coming to Kuwait will not be forced to quarantine on the condition they pay for one PCR test through the Kuwait Traveler platform Kuwait Mosafer for the following categories:
1 – Those who have recovered from a Coronavirus infection after 90 days.
2- Those who received at least one dose of the vaccine more than two weeks ago.
Kuwait Mosafer app
No passenger would be allowed to board on flights departing from Kuwait without first registering on the Kuwait Mosafer app, and no passenger would be accepted on arrival flights to the State of Kuwait except after registering on the Kuwait Traveler platform and the Shlonik app./agencies

An audio recording believed to be of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau is trending in Nigeria two days after his reported death.
"I want to reaffirm my earlier statement of yesterday in Barbaji. I have informed them that some people have deceived us with the connivance of some people within us after an oath of their belief for this struggle," Shekau said on the recording which is 2 minutes and 19 seconds.
"Some people within us who are our trusted allies... They deceived us. We engaged them with the support of people within us. They killed and wounded several of our people.”
"I am to make this address in Hausa with the hope that the message will be channeled to the public. They connived with our trusted people and agreed to fight together. We engaged them in a war of connivance with the people within us. We saw hell during the war with them and no one can overcome it,” Shekau said.
Brigadier Gen. Muhammad Yerima, a spokesman for the Nigeria Army, said the military is studying the report of Shekau's death, without giving further details.
Reports filtered on late Wednesday that Shekau was killed during a face-off with fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), around Sambisa Forest.
Despite resistance from countries in the Lake Chad region, the terrorists have continued their operation, severely clashing with the Multinational Joint Task Force comprising security operatives from neighboring countries.
ISWAP Commander Baana Duguri was reported to have said Shekau’s men and ISWAP fighters engaged in a fierce battle on Wednesday.
ISWAP fighters were said to have been on the trail of Shekau whom they wanted to capture alive but the Boko Haram leader reportedly committed suicide to avoid being caught.
“The ISWAP fighters surrounded the Boko Haram leader as the shooting ensued between the two sides but Shekau detonated a bomb and killed himself when he observed that the ISWAP fighters wanted to capture him alive,” an intelligence report said./aa

Africa has so far administered just over 25 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, or 1.5% of the doses given worldwide, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Saturday.
"And this is tragic," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union on access to vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic for the African continent.
"In the past two weeks, we are seeing some progress … with a good number of countries committing to share and equitable distribution of vaccines, but vaccine nationalism still holds us back, " Tedros added.
He also said WHO is working to bring immediate solutions for the equitable distribution of vaccine doses.
“At the same time, we cannot let down our guard. What is happening now in many other parts of the world can also happen in Africa,” the WHO head said.
Tedros said the pandemic has demonstrated that Africa cannot rely solely on imports of vaccines from the rest of the world.
"We must build that capacity, not only for COVID-19 vaccines, but for other vaccines and medical products. But at the same time we have to focus on the immediate solution of vaccine sharing, as I said earlier, " he added.
There are over 4.7 million confirmed COVID-19 cases on the African continent with more than 4.2 million recoveries and 126,000 deaths, according to WHO figures.
COVID-19 vaccine shipments to African countries have slowed down in May due to “the reliance on India as one of the key manufacturers globally, and the devastating surge of cases India is dealing with, Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Africa Director Matshidiso Moeti said on Thursday.
The African continent was expecting 66 million COVID-19 vaccine doses through COVAX facility from February to May, but instead it has so far received only 18.2 million doses, according to the WHO./aa

Infections are on the rise in Brazil. President Jair Bolsonaro, who, from the beginning of the pandemic refused to adopt measures to try to control the virus, was fined Friday for breaking regulations at a public event in Maranhao state.
State Governor Flavio Dino said Bolsonaro “must comply with federal and state legislation.”
“We are living through an especially challenging phase of the pandemic. The health authorities have been working hard. And today they decided to file a case against the president for the promotion in Maranhao of gatherings with no sanitary safeguards,” said Dino. “The law is for everyone.”
